RICK GARCIA'S paintings are surrealistic images using abstract forms, impressionism, trompe l'oeil and photo realism to create scenes of people and objects usually in a tropical setting where the elements are in a state of metamorphisis.

His paintings were often used on NBC's "Miami Vice" as backdrops for interior scenes. One episode featured an outdoor mural, three stories high and 60 feet wide. This piece became a permanent fixture and was later used by Eastern Airlines and Coca-Cola TV commercials as well as fashion magazines world-wide.

Private commissions are extensive and include celebrities such as actor Don Johnson, musicians Barry Gibb and Dion.

In 1990 Absolut Vodka selected Rick as an "Absolut Artist of the 90's" and featured his work in Connoisseur and Art & Antiquesmagazine. In 1991 Absolut again commissioned him to do a painting depicting the first station of the Cross which once hung in a church in Tourtour, France. In 1992 his work traveled to Japan to be included in an exhibit of "Absolut Artists".

He was also the Official 'Grammy' artist for 2 years.

Rick was the interior/art designer for 'Sushi Doraku', a Miami Beach restaurant and completed a 60' x 25' Octopus. If you are in Miami Beach, look for this giant octopus.
