Alexandre Minguet, French (1937 - 1996)

Born in Beziers (France) in 1937, Alexandre MINGUET lost speech from 18 months old until he was six. He led a lonley childhood and this helped delvelop his gifts of observation and expressing through drafting and construction with match-sticks.

When MINGUET was 17 years old, he was enrolled in the Conservatoire des Arts et metiers in Paris, where he studied commercial law, trade, and marketing. At 22, after his military duties, he attended the academies in Montparnasse and the Ecole du Louvre. This resulted in his first exhibitions and a classical period under the guidance of his teacher Maryse DUCAIRE.

In the full bloom of his art Alexandre MINGUET possessed and mastered, through his love of painting and of life, a deep feeling of participation in the knowledge of nature through humble motives. His work simply bears witness to these qualities.
