One of Todd White's most important paintings, this 2005 oil first published in VOGUE explores the angst and the mysteries of human sexual dimorphism: women searching for meaning in romance, men looking for carnal pleasure, and when satisfied, moving on, leaving.

The female personalities portrayed run the gamut from conservative-traditional to punk-avant-garde, but all share the commonality of wonderment and loss at the male sex's proclivity to espouse love but then leave. The viewer is left with the women's sense of lasting befuddlement and resignation.

This painting is particularly meaningful as it is a rare example of the artist's deep understanding and ability to empathize with women and their relationship with men.
