Adapted posthumously from the 1970 original oil on canvas.
Dr. Seuss worked on his beloved A Plethora of Cats for a number of years. He would use painting on this large canvas as a form of relaxation—a way to work out artistic ideas. When it was getting full and he could yet stick in another cat, he would tell Audrey, but in the end they both lost count. We are happy to say that, in the end, Ted squeezed in 392 cats!
