"La Femme Angora" Color Etching, Aquatint and Carborundum by Joan Miro

Named after the exotic Rabbit known for its luxurious wool, La Femme Angora, depicts a fantastical woman with anthropomorphic features. Conveyed in a grand scale, the richly textured carborundum defines the figure in bold, black, gestural lines white a haze like halo in pastel shades of brown and blue implies the softness of the Angora’s downy coat. Surrounded by stars and abstract splashes of vibrant color, this whimsical work features hallmarks of the artist’s whimsical, abstract and Surreal style.

Created in 1975, this color etching, aquatint, and carborundum is hand-signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right. Published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris, this piece is numbered from the edition of 75 in the lower left.
