Richard Weinstock, American (1937 - )
Richard Weinstock was boren on September 8, 1937 in a small Illinois town. He moved to San Francisco, with his family when he was only 3 months old. He has been a San Francisco resident ever since.
In 1963, while in the hospital due to an illness, a friend gave him a beginner's set of oil paints and canvas boards. His first paintings surprised his friends, but even more so, himself. He continued to paint as a hobby and latge in the 1960's, he entered his work in several Bay Area shows...winning 1st Place in many of them.
Ricahrd found himself purshing other interests aside to allow more time for painting, until finally, art was his life's work and made it his profession. He resigned from a position of 13 years with DuPont Laboratory and began earning a successful living as an artist.
Richard Weinstock is entirely self-taught and he works mostly in oils. He has a great deal of versatility in his color, technique and subject matter. His sensitivity and imagination, combined with a mastery of his medium, allow him to create works of art that are exquisite in their ability to recreate the mood of the artist.
