
Adrian Deckbar, American (1950 - )
Adrian Deckbar grew up in New Orleans, studying art and music. She has been awarded Fine Art degrees from San Francisco State University (MA ‘77), Tulane University (MFA ‘81) and the University Louisiana at Lafayette (BA ‘73). Combining sketching, photography and instinct, she composes her contemporary paintings from the natural world.
She has had more than 35 one-person exhibitions, and has participated in juried shows and invitationals. Her work is published in books, catalogs, magazines and newspapers including "Art of the American South" from the Ogden Museum collection. She recently published her own book titled: 'Continuum: Moving Through a Still Frame', partially funded by the LCEF. Also, there have been numerous reviews of her work published locally and nationally. she has juried numerous exhibits, and taught in Universities, Art Academies, and Workshops.
She received numerous grants and awards, including the Adolph Gottleib Grant, the Pollack-Krasner Grant, the Joan Mitchell Grant and others. Her work is in both public and private collections, nationally and internationally, including The New Orleans Museum of Art, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Breneau University, Gainesville, GA, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana Arts and Science Museum, as well as the Chevron Corporate Collection.
