"Mother and Child" by Frederick Hart is an acrylic figurative sculpture of a woman and her baby from an edition of 150.
Inspired by the birth of his own child, Frederick Hart masterfully celebrates one of the most enduring and primordial of all human emotions – that of maternal love. A woman gazes tenderly at her innocent, sleeping baby. Her lovely countenance reveals her deep maternal desire to nurture, protect, and love the infant lying peacefully in her arms. She experiences
one of the joys of life in this intimate moment of silent serenity. Hart embodied the energy and experience this joy of life entails by creating this intimate moment of silent serenity. The drapery contributes to the exquisite and subtle movement of the work. The use of clear acrylic resin, unlike marble or stone, light is absorbed and reflected by clear acrylic permitting the sculptor to penetrate mere surface beauty.
